Fabricio Werdum Will Fight Gordon Ryan in CJJ Match

Fabricio Werdum, former UFC champion, two times BJJ world champion, two times ADCC champion, European champion etc. is going to fight against Gordon Ryan, BJJ prodigy and one of the most decorated BJJ fighters today. Gordon is an ADCC champion, BJJ no gi world champion etc. Both Werdum and Ryan confirmed the match on social media.

The fight between two grappling wizards will take place on February, 22. 2019. The rules of the fight will be Combat Jiu-Jitsu. Combat Jiu-Jitsu system of fighting is invented by Eddie Bravo and it’s a form of grappling that allows palm strikes when on the ground.

According to Bravo, Vinny Magalhaes will also fight on the same tournament as Gordon and Werdum.

Anyway, this is a huge comeback for Werdum to his grappling roots after 7 years of absence. The first grappling match after 7 years he did against Lucas “he Hulk” Barbosa earlier this month and the match ended in draw.

In a case you didn’t know, Fabricio “Vai Cavalo” Werdum was hit with a two-year suspension by the United States Anti-Doping Agency after testing positive for the anabolic steroid trenbolone and its metabolite epitrenbolone in an out-of-competition test in April.
