Before we get into Tom DeBlass’ and Saulo Ribeiro’s plate workout routine let’s take a look at all benefits of plate workout for grapplers and the reasons to do weight plate exercises.
If you’re one of those who hates to go to the gym and work on machines or you simply don’t have time to do it, weight plate workout is great for you and your grappling. Sometimes the simple equipment like weight plate can give you equally the same results as going to the gym and work on those expensive machines.
A weight plate is one of the best gym training equipment with which you’re able to do a lot of various exercises. And if we’re talking about BJJ and grappling it can help you a lot for sure. Either you’re working with weight plate just to warm up or you’re trying to do weight exercises it’s all possible with just a single weight plate. That’s something that Tom Deblass and Saulo Ribeiro know very good.
Whether you’re an athlete, sportsperson, bodybuilder or just someone who like fitness if you decide to go with weight Plate the list of benefits is pretty big. Here are the main benefits:
- Muscle strengthening
- Greater Endurance
- Improved Balance
- Improved flexibility
- Improved mobility
If you take a look at the list you’ll notice that everything listed is a tremendous benefit for grapplers. The reason for this is simple. The weight plate can be moved in many directions with numerous types of exercises and you can achieve your goals pretty easy without any use of machines and other weights.
Now let’s take a look at Tom Deblass weight plate workout routine. Tom is one of the guys who doesn’t have a lot of time to work out. He’s the father of 2, he’s gym owner and that’s exactly the reason why he recommends pretty short but intense workout routines so that he’s able to incorporate them into his busy days.
The main reason why short and intense workout routines are good is that anyone can do them. You’ll feel more motivated, you won’t lose that much time and you’ll do a pretty good job. Probably a lot better job than most of the people sitting in a gym for hours, chatting and weight-lifting without any order.
Another example of a plate lift exercise for Jiu-Jitsu. This is my third set and third variation. I have 2 more sets to do. Try and get some of these in after rolling, 3 to 5 sets. I'm using a 45 lb plate but you can adjust accordingly.
